ABOUT

"I may not be there to wipe your tears but I will watch from up above."

These are the words from the single 'I Will Carry You', released by four sisters following the death of their father Chris Smith who died in a car accident in 2001. Charmed, formed by Danielle, Jollie, Hollie, and Charis, have released the single to say thank you to Winston's Wish for its support during their grief. It was written by mum Debbie Alexander, of Corncroft Lane, Matson. Debbie, said:

"The song is about Chris and how he will continue to look down on the girls. You never get over the death of losing someone. You just learn to live without them."

After the accident Charis found it difficult to sleep. For the next few weeks the whole family, slept downstairs watching a video of a Westlife concert. Debbie was told of the service that Winston's Wish offers for bereaved children and their families. The family went through the services and attended a group in the Forest of Dean held by the charity. The weekend allowed the family to deal with their emotions. In 2003 Debbie took three of the girls to see a Westlife show in Ireland and, on returning home, wrote the song. The family were picked up by record producer Alex Alsop a few years later.

"It has been a long journey,"
Debbie.
